Any employer who can pay their employees above the state poverty line should receive an (equivalent + incentive) tax break for each dollar above the minimum wage for up to $3500 + $1000 for each dependent.
Up to 15% of gross wages above poverty line paid in the form of FOOD EBT will be exempt of employer and employee tax.
This accomplishes several things:
>Encourages employers to increase their wages without setting a hard minimum wage.
>Reduce government welfare and the overhead associated with processing and maintaining the welfare system.
>Encourages having children.
>Discourages living off the system.
In fact, all gibs should be replaced with this system. Government shouldn't be involved with administrating handouts directly to citizens.
>for each dollar above the minimum wage
for each dollar of the poverty line.
