"Whiteness" is a passive trait. Thats why whenever you a half white mixed person you automatically label him by his non-white race. Barack Obama is the first black president even though he is half white and was primarily raised by white people.

I'm white, my wife is asian, when she started preschool last year I went to pick her up from school and her teacher didn't believe I was her father at first and privately asked my daughter to confirm that I am her father, because my daughter is apparently the "one asian girl" in her class because everyone else is white.
