This is somewhat misleading. A team at a university there built a cubesat, which is an activity you'll find at just about every university with an engineering program, and SpaceX launched it for them for free. My school had to pay to have our cubesat launched. The cubesat just gets bundled in with the rest of the payload

Rocket built by non-Africans. Satellite build by non-Africans. Ghana used some of it's international aid and money from mineral resources to fund this. They didn't build shit. They bought a shiny toy. Hopefully they'll at least put it to good use.

This post is correct. We had a class to launch a cubesat at UCF. The only thing they did was "design" the satellite, but that's not impressive either. "Designing" a cubesat just means picking which components you want to go in an already existing architecture. They aren't creating the cubesat but rather fitting things in an already existing architecture.
