Logistics dont matter as much for a pump-and-dump skirmish. A prolonged battle? Maybe. You also have to protect your logistics, which can be hard, especially if India can seize the sky early on.

There's a LOT of pride riding on this. China wants to show that its a "real" power and demands respect. China also has a lot to lose; if India wins the PRC will be weakened, which slows their rise and potentially lets the US continue their global military dominance indefinitely.
