Spanish people think that this is up to us to at least speak English to get along with tourists because logic, but if you go away from areas specialised in tourism, then people will be more like here it is up to you to speak our languages, mostly because we suck at English and trying to speak it is a pain in the ass for us, In Valencia, if someone can't speak Valencian, people speak immediately in Spanish, so here the problem is just that we can't switch to English at will.

Only people that treat tourists badly are deranged people in general (lefty scum in particular) and emotionally tired people that don't feel like forcing themself into a good mood to please unknown people.

This country was way better when it wasn't so dependent on tourism and everybody thought that it was the start of Africa; another war ravaged country with a dictator in the front.

I mean, yes shit wasn't exactly good, but at least this country could have industry, but after entering the EU one of the conditions was the destruction of all stablished industry(so the way lower wages and worker rights didn't outcompete the rest of Europe by being a closer version of China) and then substituted with tourism, a substititution of almost 100%, there is barely any industry here; everything is bought, outsourced or dependent on small high end industries that clearly do not compensate at all for the loss.

Everytime I see a roving pack of Japanese, English, German or French tourists around, with their cameras and general smugness Ii just think that they are feeding a system and a culture. A system made so there is an economic boom from June to September and the rest of the year everyone that is not an engineer, scientist or public worker has to survive on the breadcrums left by these uncaring fags, this is one of the many reasons why people stopped caring about saving, hard work and the long run.

Why save when I only have to wait for the tourist season? Why get a degree when I can just spend my days cleaning bars and serving alcohol? Why care about the long run if this is going to be on and on forever? And the worst part is that they would be right, they only started caring about this when the crisis came in and tourism fell down with wages and the only thing that came up was debt, debt that people couldn't pay for years(and still can't, the difference is that now we can pay some of the bills) of being retarded and thinking that everything would stay the same.

So yes, I don't support those anarchist doing noise and I'm sure they are misguided as fuck. But they got this right: tourism was a huge mistake

Tourism must be regulated, look at venezia, the city is killed by hordes of tourists. Here in paris, the price have increased because of too much tourists and in some places you can only find chinese tourists shop, expensive and fake restaurant/bakery/café shop, it's useless and ugly.
In my area, there was a lot of craftsmen but now it's only hotels and useless shops for dumb tourists. A coffee cup is now like 4€ here, that's insane.

Tourists have totally fucked the downtown area of Tromso.

Restaurants cater to tourists from cruise lines. They are expensive as shit and serve upscale looking versions of whale / reindeer. So many tourist shops downtown all sell the same crap (troll dolls, shot glasses, Sami knives). There are about 15 Thai "massage" parlors.

There is 1 butcher, 1 fish market, few restaurants that cater just to locals. All the stores that locals need are in the mall. The downtown is just for tourists and drunks.

Big hotels have sprung up, and now the beautiful view of downtown in the winter is marred by a giant neon RADISSON sign.

To be fair tourists misbehave more often than refugees, day-to-day they are more annoying.

In any case it is a specific type of tourism that needs to go away I have no problem with people seeing the sights, it's the pooljumping pillpopping chavs that really need to go. I think we should start by making our beaches for citizens only. If we pretend it's for environmental reasons we could get away with it.

Those anarco-independentists are scum and deserve to be gassed, but this doesn't mean that tourism isn't getting unsustainable. I remember when I was a kid living in Barcelona, I went to the Park Güell almost everyday to play because I lived like 5 minutes away. There were little groups of tourists, mostly japanese, americans, british... It was very nice honestly, you could see they were educated and respectful people. Now, if I want to visit the fucking park I have to pay 8€, wait in a row to enter and try to see the fucking lizard fountain sorrounded by a sea of loud, trashy and sweaty tourists.
