Have you fallen for the dental Jew /Pol/?

Although recommended by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, wisdom tooth extraction may do more harm than good.
>Studies show "Only 12% of truly impacted teeth >are associated with pathological conditions such >as cysts and damage to adjacent teeth."
>"In fact, 50% of upper third molars classified as >impactions are normally developing teeth"
Many dentists take advantage of the vanity of patients claiming that failure to remove the teeth will result in the crowding of other teeth, even though this is simply not the case.
In addition most patients are not properly informed of the risks
>lockjaw
>burns
>Permanent nerve damage
>infection
>cavitation
>dry socket.
Remember pol, never trust a man in a white jacket, these snake oil salesmen are just out for your money, and have very little evidence to back up thier claims.
Unless it's absolutely medically necessary, keep your wisdom teeth.

Good article I found on the subject.
>>
I left a wisdom tooth alone and a huge chunk fell out after 8 years because I couldn't reach it with a toothbrush. I think its better to take it out when its tiny.
>>
still got 4 wisdom teeth.
2 top 2 lower.

not young anymore.
not chancing it.
it's nice having 4 backups.
>>
then why does the military bother taking them out? I got x rayed when I joined. 1 year later at dental the dentist said they looked like they weren't moving at all but decided they should take em out just in case
>>
>>136327680
This. They can be really hard to clean.
>>
>>136326805
This is ironic because my Jewish/Russian dentist didn't make anyone in my family get braces or their wisdom teeth pulled, even though I asked for these procedures out of paranoia. She said it was not necessary. She even gives us a discount and takes care of everything in one session. A typical American dentist would have made us make multiple appointments for no reason except to make more money and they charge double.
>>
the most extreme pain I've ever experienced happened because I let my decayed wisdom tooth emerge rather than have it removed
>>
i was coerced into getting mine removed because they tell you theres a greater risk of getting nerve damage if you wait till theyre fully grown into your jaw
>>
>>136329209
This, in boot camp they literally round up all of the recruits with wisdom teeth and yank them out, whether they're an issue or not.
>>
>>136329209

They're often difficult to clean without really getting in there with floss and they can cause problems that only become apparent once they've fully broken through (contacting and impinging the neighbouring teeth etc.)
>>
how did humans survive for thousands of years without wisdom teeth removal?

>>
>>136326805
I was told to have them removed and I never did. Now I'm 36 and have two rotten, broken, painful teeth. I've come to the conclusion that I have a fear of dentistry, apparently a common thing, because there is other reason that I have avoided it this long. I have plenty of money and insurance, I'm just a faggot who doesn't like general anesthesia. I recently made an appointment to get it done and its giving me anxiety thinking about it right now.
>>
THere's no reason to have them, and they can be detrimental to overall dental health if they become impacted. We don't chrew food that has the consistency of leather and rope anymore

They do that in burgerland? Here you are only locally anesthetized and you see the dentist fiddling in your mouth while he explains you what he's doing
>>
>>136330505

I don't know how dental treatment works in the US (whether it's prohibitively expensive or not) but assuming you go to the dentist when you're supposed to once every six months for a check-up, any dentists worth their salt would spot wisdom teeth problems right away. It's one of the first things they check.
>>
its not your teeth's fault that you can't take care of them properly
>>
Wisdom teeth give your tongue more surface area to push sideways against which leads to a wider palate which allows you to breathe more easily, gives you a better looking face, and also gives mental and hormonal benefits.
>>
Bump...

I fell for it. They cracked and chipped half my teeth cutting the the wisdom teeth out.
>>
If you don't have your wisdom teeth then you'll never fully mature into an adult , having those extra teeth come in changes your facial structure and the way your facial bones develop.

they impact yes
but only in people who have had poor diets and poor facial muscle usage growing up due to soft foods. this type of lifestyle leads to an underdeveloped jaw with no room for the teeth to come in.

this knowledge is for the children growing up now, if you're reading this now its obviously too late for you

but you can save your kids.

I'm old.

I haven't seen a dentist since I was 18. The last time I was there they told me I needed to have a couple cavities filled and my wisdom teeth extracted. It's been literally decades and the "cavities" never materialized and my wisdom teeth are fine. They came in perfectly and have never caused any problem.

I do have some crowding of the bottom front teeth which is pretty common, and may be related to the wisdom teeth, but it's not serious. Plus, I never had braces.

bottom ones were already mild painful, i guess pain would just increase.

Wisdom teeth get dirty and cavities really easy which may lead to infection.

I got both taken out, because I wanted to and it doesnt feel strange or different in any way.

It did not hurt and I was not in full anesthesia. The dentist took it out with some kind of a tool that looks like a screwdrive, dunno its name.

Since then my wisdom teeth dont hurt, I never had any infections and eat non different than before.

Taking your wisdom teeth out is real redpill.

You really should go, bud. Not even for the wisdom tooth thing but because after that length of time, you're almost certainly in need of periodontal cleaning. The longer you delay it, the worse (and potentially more expensive) it's going to be.
>>
>>136326805
When I moved for college and got a new dentist he told me that the skin from below my gums was falling off and that I would need major surgery to fix the problem or I would be in dentures within 5 years. As a 19 year old kid with no previous dental problems other than ironically having my wisdom teeth out.

I noped the fuck out of there and found a real dentist. 50% of dentists are scam artists. Don't trust any dentist that says you have 7212531 cavities or need a bunch of root canals. Pay the $80 to get a second opinion before they screw you.

Yeah I recently made an appointment after my revelation that I'm a big pussy for being afraid of a dentist. Its really weird to even think about or admit, even anonymously. I'm honestly quite ashamed of the whole thing, and that may be a factor too. I've even had surgeries before and it wasn't a problem, and I've had many trips to the hospital for injuries and have no hangups about needles or anything. Its just dental stuff that creeps me out.

I've even had infections in the wisdom teeth in question that I treated with natural bullshit like a poultice made of raw garlic, green tea, and salt. It actually worked and made it go away within a few days while treating the pain with whiskey and weed. At the time I didn't even think about the lengths I was going to just to avoid the dentist. Its like my subconscious was blocking out rational thought. Its hard to explain.
>>
>>136326805
Maybe true for some, but for me I had impacted uppers, which was resulting in crowding of some of my teeth already, and my lowers were double impacted- also resulting in some crowding. I was having TMJ symptoms and random gland problems in my jaw from middle school until I had them removed in college at 20 years old. Pretty sure I did the right thing. No more problems with my jaw- there are no words for how awful jaw pain can be.

>first time dealing with a health problem
welcome to the party pal
since you caught it so early you might be able to solve it ... your tinnitus could be caused by grinding you do at night which would be your body 'searching' for the wisdoms that were taken from you... your body would grind at night to try and get your nonexistant wisdoms to come into contact with one another... its like having a phantom limb.

My advice to you is to chew a lot of gum to teach your body that those teeth no longer exist. Make sure you dont wake up clenching. good luck.

i wish i still had the x-rays. the dentist i went to (first time i'd seen one in over 10 years) wasn't sure what was going on with my teeth (no cavities though!) and just referred me to a surgeon. bottom ones were sideways, with one partially erupted and rotting. top ones were growing in random directions into my sinuses.

got put under, whole thing took 40 minutes although i was scheduled for 2 hours. no pain, no drysocket, nothing. even got hydrocodone AND percocets. didn't need it since i had totally recovered after 36 hours or so. felt like >>136332560
afterwards. my jaw looks sharper (bottom teeth were giving me fat cheeks), my voice isn't nasally anymore, i can breath through my nose at night... 5 years on and even my bottom teeth are straightening out.

not everyone is so lucky and i think it has a lot to do with needing it done and seeing the right dentist/surgeon. anyone about to get their wisdom teeth done should absolutely research the surgeon. mine was head of the dentistry faculty at a large state university.

I'm unironically a shark. I have a 3/4ths set of additional teeth that may or may not try to intrude out of the gums in the next five years where I'll have a painful but extremely radical second set of teeth jutting out just behind my current set.

It'll be extremely cool until I have to have major dental surgery. There's a limited chance they'll also never force their way through and if I ever lose my teeth could be induced to grow into the proper position.

Here's hoping evolution works in my favor here.

>I left a wisdom tooth alone and a huge chunk fell out after 8 years because I couldn't reach it with a toothbrush.
This happened to me. Now I have a hole in the rear top of my mouth that regularly (I mean like 30-40% of the days of a month) is inflamed or at least sensitive. That can't be healthy. I also have cavities, one of which has resulted in a hole down the middle of one of my molars (I have trouble chewing with that side of my mouth now) and the other of which gives me a full on fever when it gets inflamed, the last of these having ended only a few days ago. I can barely eat mildly hot or cold foods anymore without getting a headache, nor can I brush my teeth with anything other than lukewarm water.

But yeah, keep giving the dentist the finger, guys. That will get you far in life.
>>
>>136326805
I grew up in a wealthy family. I chose to keep my wisdom teeth. I wish every day I had them removed. I'm poor now and can't afford the high quality dental work i've had in the past. (I have had multiple dentists tell me the work i had done was some the best they've ever seen.) I've had one bad dentist since I became poor and they scratched the ever living shit out of my enamel and I'll never have dental work done again unless I can afford quality work.

I don't have any dental problems, aside from hot and cold sensitivity from the badly scratched enamel, but I bite the inside of cheeks on both sides. It's because my wisdom teeth stick out slightly more than my other teeth. I hate it.
>>
>>136334913
That's completely ridiculous and false. Wisdom teeth come in at around age 20. Do you think people only lived to be 19 in olden times?

People have always had problems with their teeth. They had primitive dentistry for a long time, too, which mostly consisted of pulling out problem teeth and not much else. It was probably the case that people were losing so many other teeth by the time they were 40-50, that the wisdom teeth weren't really noticed anymore.

Why are you incessantly spreading disinformation?
>>
>>136336601
Read your post aloud and see if it sounds as stupid, to you, as it objectively is.

When people say that "in the year 1500, the average life expectancy was 35," that doesn't mean that most people died when they hit the ripe old age of 35. It means that the rate of infant mortality was so incredibly high so as to skew the average that low. Ancient people who made it past a certain age (I forget exactly, I think in the 15 years old range) could expect to live into their 70s-80s.

I mean, do you really think that most people only lived ten years past puberty?????????
>>
>>136334347
It's literally impossible for them to push other teeth out of the way. Crowding is a myth
>>
>>136334739
Physically impossible. The other teeth are rooted and there's 0 evidence that wisdom teeth can provide enough force to crowd others. Also angled impacted teeth cause issues less than 12% of the time. It's likely you were jewel into it
>>

>>
>>136326805
It is case by case, and if you don't trust your dentist, feel free to get a second opinion.

I was in a situation where the shape of my jaw allowed for the extra teeth, brushing the back was totally impossible. I was in my mid 30s when I had to have the final 3 removed for good measure. If you have the jaw for it, and can brush behind, no problem. I had 1 pulled early on because it was causing the gum to become infected from the battle of growth of each.

The extra room has made brushing the other teeth much easier.

I am damn near immune to opiates due to some genetic bullshit, but when I had the 3 removed I asked that they save them for me. they thought I was terrible. They looked awful, and still do. Yuck!

Pic related.

I have never flossed and never had one cavity. 2 summers ago I was eating a cookie and my front tooth broke off at the base. I went to my dentist, he said that the tooth just randomly died. A root canal later I am good. Tell you what, I have had many sports injuries, wasp stings, cuts etc.....nothing could of prepared me for that 2 hour procedure. My next move is to get a permanent implant. That will be under general anesthesia (It has to be) screwing a tooth into your jawbone is a serious procedure. Not looking forward to it, but it has to be done soon.

I've been to the dentist only a handful of times in my life, last time would have been about 15-18 years ago. My teeth are perfect, never had to get anything removed sans one tooth when i was very young. I rarely brush them, but i wipe them down often with a medium-rough cloth. I had a cavity when i was younger but i played with it so much with my tongue and a paper clip i was able to dig it out with out assistance, Problem solved. Perhaps im cutting it close but so far so good. I may eventually have to go through to have one of my molars looked at, I was chewing on a really terrible cement hard cookie my wife made (bless her heart lol) and cracked a molar in half, it doesn't hurt but i can't really eat much on that side anymore. It's probably going to get worse if i don't get it checked but.

It's been a while since I went to the dentist, but last time I was in college, so it's not like I was too young to handle a fucking shot in my mouth. I really hate being put in an unconscious state, whether for a prolonged period or just a few minutes.
>>
I still have all my wisdom teeth at 39. When I was in the military, the faggot pog techs would always nag me to have them removed during dental check-ups, but I would always tell them no since they have yet to give me any problems.

I remember reading that during puberty, your jaw is supposed to grow out to accommodate the new teeth. It's not my fault that most people are a bunch of jawlets :^)

Even if they are the kind of dentists that does that I'm sure they will work with you. I bet the more expensive dentists do this, mine was in a strip mall but the work they did was fine. Not gonna lie, the needles hurt but it's not horrible. They feel like they they stick them in 2 miles deep sometimes.
>>
>>136331319
Mine infected like 10 times while coming out. Kept them clean as good as possible and sucked up the pain.

Never had issues after they pushed through completely.
>>
I spent 9.5k total getting crowns on my teeth after i ground them down due to bruxism- i think caused by being prescribed adderall and ritalin as a child. That was my 'college money'.

wait a minute, is it normal to not be able to chew with your wisdom teeth?

I have never heard of this before. Is this some problem of weak chinned people or what?
>>
>>136326805
I read that it's best not to do if you've been on /pol/ for any length of time. Apparently, you're likely to start talking about the JQ while coming out of anesthesia. If you have a Jewish dentist it can be awkward.
>>
>>136326805
if you got a problem with them, take them out

if not dont bother.

its that simple

I want you to consider a situation where you're on deployment without access to quality dentistry. Or God forbid if you were captured by the enemy. If your wisdom teeth starts to act up in a situation like that it's going to severely hamper your effectiveness in carrying out the mission.

They won't even let you join the airforce if there are reasons to believe you'll have complications with your eyes down the road, even if your vision is fine now. They are investing into you, and they are futureproofing you for potential issues down the line.

Wtf did people do before this was an option? I mean seriously, I broke my arm this past winter and people used to just live with that pain 24 hours a day until it healed, then just have a fucked up limb for the rest of their lives.

Say what you want about the doctors being jews, but they've sure got modern medicine figured out.
>>
>>136343616
The pain usually comes from inflammation in your gums as holes are pushed open in them, they get infected, tissue starts to die off and so forth. Not from the mere presence of the teeth. It stops being painful after a while.

Cover your ears with the palm of your hands with your middle fingers towards the bottom of your skull. Put your middle finger over your index finger and flick it so that it taps the back of your head, like a drum beat.

they do the same thing with appendices.

I knew a kid who almost died when he got his wisdom teeth extracted. He was hospitalized and had a severe infection for 2 weeks.
>>
>>136341190
You paid more than that for it through your taxes. You just haven't added that part to the calculation. In Canada we pay about 4K a year out of our tax dollars for healthcare. More if you make more.
>>
I don't think anyone goes to remove their wisdom teeth unless they are fucked or hard to brush.

I removed all four, two at a time. They were starting to push my normal teeth and one of them was almost sideways. If you just let them grow into your jaw, you will be fucked once the issues begin.
>>
>>136326805

I was admitted to hospital because of a wisdom tooth infection, massive Abscess in the mouth, tooth was pushing on a nerve so I'd literally shake from the pain. Was chewing codeine tablets to go to sleep.

Got all 4 out and I've never felt better, can eat, sleep and masturbate without worrying about my gums hurting.

Also i thoroughly cleaned and sterilised my mouth everyday for 3 years that i kept the wisdom tooth in, its impossible to clean once it goes under the gum and gets infected.

Don't be dumb get it out ASAP. Also my hospitalisation was free thanks to government but to you Americans you'll be paying out the ass for staying 1 night to get intravenous antibiotics and tablets.
>>
>>136346099

if your jaw has space you can easily clean behind them

it's only necessary if they are BADLY impacted, and at a fucked angle.
>>
I have all my wisdom teeth, I got a cavity in one but other than that they've all been fine. Every time I get a new dentist they always pressure me to get them removed. I'm 33. Getting them removed is more about making things more convenient for your dentist than it is for your health. Don't be lazy when you brush/floss.
