I've been a liberal since I was old enough to understand politics. On most issues I still am. But over the past couple years I've realized how bullshit multiculturalism is. I feel that feel, OP. I don't want to judge anyone by their skin color, but reality can't be ignored and stereotypes exist for a reason. I grew up in a rural town in Northern California and when I venture to the San Joaquin valley, Sacramento, or the Bay Area, it feels like another world that I don't want any part in to be blunt. As I grow older, I realize more and more why my dad is the way he is(racist as fuck) and sold his house in the Bay Area to raise a family in a quiet town away from all of that craziness.

I'm not racist, but I don't trust a group of black kids following me. I'm not a misogynist, but I don't believe in the gender gap, or that women are being held behind in America. I'm not transphobic, but I don't believe mentally I'll people with high suicide rates should serve in the army.

Everybody is looking to water down complex issues into easily identifiable labels and along the way much of the rationalization and nuance of an argument is lost. I'm sick of everyone trying to find a label for me. I'm not a hateful person. I'm just a regular guy with a rationale for believing the things I do. When you stop talking to me and instead start yelling, or worse, try to ignore my perspective completely, then I want nothing to do with you.

I don't think anyone WANTS to be a racist, it's something you become over time the more you observe reality and people and how things act out. You start out wanting to believe it doesn't work like that but it wears you down so that you either have to admit what's actually there or you go in fullblown denial mode like the far leftists.

Yes. I've lived most of my life in a bubble in one of the most affluent areas in the country and most of the non-whites I've had to interact with in my day to day life have been much like any other person. More and more though I am beginning to suspect that has a lot to do with where I live rather than the innate nature of various peoples.
