I do like the fact that some people lovingly went through and translated the elvish language and included the original wording in subtitles. The fanbase for LOTR is by far the most chill of all. I'm genuinely glad the left has avoided it and Narnia like the plague.

The thing I noticed is that they tend to use simplistic representations from fiction.
In general, I notice that the left has a somewhat degraded mentality. They think in terms of pop culture and clutch onto the absurdly easy ones, and the more complex ones, they dumb down. If you look at the overall support for Harry Potter Vs Star Wars, for example. Though they've made changes to Star Wars (Minor by comparison really. It still feels like Star Wars), the SJWs have been slow to embrace it. This is because Star Wars actually uses some rather complex dynamics. I refer to the Original Trilogy and the New movies that just came out.
See, the original Star Wars was the creation of a new mythology. The mythology was further grown and enhanced but stuck true to the Joseph Campbell model of the monomyth. Which is an attempt to explain and grow, rather than deconstruct. This makes it impossible for SJWs and the left to actually get behind it. However, Harry potter is simple. It was written and made for kids, and as such, appeals to the child like minds of the left.
Lord of the Rings however, exceeds Star Wars in terms of complexity and storytelling. As such, the left shrink far away from it.

I like the LOTR fandom. It's mostly people who have read everything Tolkein has written, and generally agrees upon the core details while discussing the mythology in further context, examining the very nature of the world, while leaving modern social issues out.
Heck, just the other day I saw an interesting geologic treatise on Middle earth. Complete with discussions of implications surrounding such features as Mordor and the triple junction leading to the iron mountains.

GoT is not shit. Don't let terrible people ruin things for you. GoT is more realistic, in my opinon, than Lotr in that is truly adds human events to the fantasy world and is not just good vs. bad. One complaint I do have about GoT regarding this is that Sauron has a back story, even Smeagol and you understand what led them to be the way they are. It's a mystery why the Nightking does what he does? Is he simply a force of evil, a force of nature or does he also have an agenda revolving around human events? Maybe the Nightking is not the living dead, but another race that was annihilated by men and he just uses necromancy to create an army or maybe he was a man once and was betrayed and this is his revenge on the living? Don't really know much about him, just that he's evil. I believe Sauron was corrupted like Voldemort?

The closest thing to an ideology that Tolkein can be described as is a Luddite. For he saw the Industrial revolution as a source of great ill, and the ever growing of technology as a source of all evils on the planet. He was anti-war, but not pro socialism. By todays standards, he would be a Libertarian in the American sense, rather than the Anarco capitalist in the Global sense.


His biography is one of most interesting contradictions. He was against the state running everything, but seemed fine with traditional monarchy.
