Are asset bubbles engineered to create losses and thus soak up excess liquidity?

no, asset bubbles are created to engineer entire societies! The tax code is the rules to the game and it changes dynamically. Look at what they try to incentivize and DE-incentivise
(BTW you just lost the game)

no, asset bubbles are not engineered
Nvidia has branded out into other fields, as has AMD. Also the video game industry is dominate among males and will continue to grow.

How does an asset "bubble" create losses? A company might invest a lot of money in a particular year into purchasing fixed assets, and then expense them where possible rather than capitalize them. This is a deduction allowed under IRS rules though.
