Reminder that Napoleon was a left-wing liberal.

>reintroduces catholicism to France
>exiled jacobins (commies) to die on far away, disease-ridden islands
>restores state authority
>restored discipline and introduced meritocracy to a country ruled for centuries by feudal law
Napoleon was closer to being a centrist for his day, but in today's world he would be considered a fascist.

Duh, he was French

He was adamant about overthrowing the aristocracy as a young French revolutionary. He waged war on the aristocracy all across Europe. Ironically, he himself became and emperor and had he won at the battle of Waterloo there very well could have been a new Napoleonic dynasty ruling France. So yes, he was a liberal, however, he was a hypocritical one in practice. That being said, he was also a great conqueror so for that he has my respect.
