i was born in 1990 and i watched a lot of news growing up/ watching everything from 9/11 - a few years into the iraq war really fucked me up. the hairs still stand up on my neck when i remember my 12 year old self saying "holy shit, they're going to invade iraq and there's nothing anybody can do to stop it". every day there were new approval ratings posted for the prospect of an invasion. as a little kid i had realized that the media was a brainwashing tool. it was eerie to me then and now i'm jaded as fuck. didn't stop me from joining the army though
