My theory is still entirely valid. Rome was a Germanic civilization (at least at the higher rungs of society). Eye color and hair color aren't everything, despite many Roman leaders being portrayed as dark haired or dark eyed, they might very have been genetically Germanic.

They took advantage of the destabilization of the Western Roman Empire, like all the other Germanic tribes. There was little native resistance as the Franks had been occasional allies and even rulers of parts of Gaul for centuries, and just generally part of the cultural fabric of the region. And, yes, it was a few thousand people, the largest estimates I've ever seen put the number of Franks between 100k and 200k people.

There were different waves of Breton migration from what is Britannia to Armorica, IIRC from the 1st to the 4th century, as the Romans left, yes. Though Armorica had always been close to Britannia, both culturally and politically.

And, yes, again, the Normans that conquered England were not Nordic. Between Rollo's men and the few Nordic colonists that arrived later, the estimates of Nordic population in what would henceforth be called Normandy range from 300 to less than 10000. And they immediately converted, intermarried, adopted French culture, swore fealty to the French kings. William's grandfather was the last one to even have a Norse-inspired name.
