This is a thread for the discussion of all ideologies that promote property rights, individual liberty and lassez-faire capitalism. These includes (but is not limited to) anarcho-capitalism, paleolibertarianism, minarchy, objectivism and anti-leftism (i.e. physical removal, so to speak). All others are welcome to learn and debate us.
Reminder that this is a right-wing thread, so libertine degenerates ('live and let live' faggotry), open-border advocates and faux-libertarians (e.g. Gary Johnson) are not welcome here - people here recognise that property rights imply discrimination and a return to traditional, conservative values.
Although questions are welcome, many are repeated often, so it is recommended you research the basics first. Nobody here is obligated to debate with you, so try to avoid using fallacies in your arguments or creating unrealistic scenarios.

I liked that speech because I loathe leftism, but it irks me when people utilize the words "society" and "culture" too much because I really think they're buzzwords that people can't adequately define.

>>136186821
I think sticking to the simplest definition shapes the speech in a coherent way.

Society as a rather ample association of individuals and culture as common tradition of said individuals within that association.
>>
>>136187299
I don't know what "association" consists in, and I don't know how we talk about common tradition. Or more importantly, I suppose I don't see any significance in the mundane observation that people exist in some arbitrary spacial proximity to one another and do things. I don't think there's anything of value to be extracted from the observation of the obvious - especially when people use those terms in effective persuasion of the opposition. "We couldn't have society or culture without government" is a pervasive notion among statists, so much so that I think the terms themselves are more toxic than useful.
>>
>>136186280
Fug man. That's awesome.
>>
>>136187806
It serves to address a rather extended confusion between libertarianism critics and left libertarians.

The whole "live and let live" has been subverted to the point where people believe we may not hold personal opinions or preferences. Those opinions and preferences, when associating with like minded individuals, form culture, in a sense.

Also, there's this belief (and it's addressed in the speech) that we might be isolationists, nihilists even. I think it's good to clarify that we do believe in associating, that our goal is not to live innawoods away from everyone else, that the state is atomizing us in order to have docile subjects.

You might find it mundane or obvious, but these speeches usually tend to have their target, communicating our main talking points in a convincing manner and addressing the most common criticisms is always positive in my mind.

I'm making one of these to get all the common questions people have for ancaps answered in one fell swoop. Heavily inspired by the infographs that come out of the discord. anyone want to see any specific question on there?

That looks great, but DESU, drop the roads question. It's purely a meme, the fact that we take it seriously is a joke. Literally no one doubts someone could build a road and charge people to use it via ez-pass. Lighten up a bit my dude.

>The whole "live and let live" has been subverted to the point where people believe we may not hold personal opinions or preferences
Yep.
His speech served to clarify some points of divergence people are seeing in libertarian ideology (or at least people who claim to be of libertarian ideology) where that conflation is increasingly occurring. But what I meant by mundane observations wasn't the observation of people doing that, I was just saying I don't think there's anything useful in the terms "culture" and "society", since they are (effectively) just terms denoting "people within arbitrary proximity to one another exist and do things", and are more widely instantiated in the minds of most people as toxic terms that lean them away from libertarianism and not toward it.
>>
>>136189177
Explain right of association and dissociation. I don't have a fitting question to get you there, but it's one aspect many people find attractive.

Personally I doubt we'll ever see Ancapistan become a widespread society, but I think it is possible in micro-states where the high immigration rate of ancap converts would ensure that the society has enough ancaps to prevent a government from rising up. These micro-states would of course be disproportionately powerful relative to their size, thanks to the freeness of their markets and the fact that they would likely act as a tax haven for all kinds of businesses.

Where these micro-states form is the question. As of right now, few nations would be satisfied letting any of their land slip away, so we would likely only see them in the ocean or in space, where the governments are not allowed to claim sovereignty. However, as these space and sea habitats grow in number, we might see governments willing to let go of tax draining shitholes like Detroit, so that they may benefit somewhat from a free market paradise instead of having to take care of the dying corpse of a city, similar to what China did with Hong Kong.
