I know it's often said that the First amendment only applies to the government not being able to censor people. I understand that sentiment but I disagree with it.
The constitution represents the fundamental principles that we as Americans should all agree upon. With that in mind, I support free speech for everyone and am against censorship in most of its form. I think people and companies failing to uphold the rights of their fellow citizens to be un-American. If we are a government of the people then how can we expect the government to uphold rights that we ourselves don't adhere to? In depriving others of their voices we normalize censorship and one day when the government moves to do the same thing it'll seem normal.
