You know what, if a super-powered immortal God-being emerged from seclusion leading an army of juiced-up thunder warriors, you bet your ass I'd pledge my undying loyalty to Him, because A) he's able to stick around for the long haul, so I won't have to worry about new rulers, and B) he has the military force to back up his claim to the planet.

However, seeing as no such being has bothered to reveal themselves to us lowly mortals, we must rule over ourselves. Which means democracy. Democracy is terrible. It is slow, inefficient, vulnerable to corruption. It's honestly the worst system around, except for every other ruling system.
