Real talk, with so many churches out there; how can you filter out the shitty ones?
>>
Look at the theology of the denomination, then the beliefs page of that local church's website, then attend a service and talk to them

I am a Baptist because I believe Baptist theology is correct, so when I move I go to a Baptist church
>>
>>136171799
Well I was raised atheist so I have no idea what I should believe. I'm assuming the closest to Jesus' teachings the better, no faggotry would be nice too
>>
>>136172283
Read the new testament and run from any group that tells you they have exclusive authority in interpreting the scripture

I'm a southern Baptist and it looks like there aren't any sbc churches in your town in washington. I'm looking at the beliefs page of "blue sky church" and it looks totally solid. I know Im just someone you've never met on an anonymous imageboard but I would visit there if I were you
>>
>>136172283
I also like what I'm reading on Doxa Church
>>
>>136171556
Narrow to only Eastern Orthodox churches. That will make it much easier.
>>
>>136172952
>>136173387
taking a look at these now, thanks anon
>>
>>136171556
I'm in the same boat OP. I just moved to West Seattle and I'm looking for a traditional Catholic church to attend.
>>
>>136171556
Nice bait tabs OP I am sure some autist will sperg out when they see what you """Look""" at.
>>
>>136174052
>exhentai
>bait
Having patrician taste is hardly bait.
>>
>>136171556
shit. i lived in bellevue for several years.
was a fgt back then, was married back then, went to the unitarian universalist 'church'.
fucking incredibly beautiful building, about the most SJW 'faith' you could imagine.

thank god i divorced that dry cunt and am now a conservative catholic living in a red state
>>
So what is church even like? I feel like I'd be so out of place as a random 20 year old college kid.
>>
>>136173717
Last one, crossroads bible Church on the south side of town looks great and has a well written statement against same sex marriage in their website
>>
>>136174609
A room filled with senior citizens and a few children who are unhappy to be there dress up in expensive clothes and absentmindedly go through the motions for 45 minutes as a priest gives a generic sermon he printed from a website.
Religion in general needs a shot of adrenaline, every church in my area is like this. There is no energy or passion at all, nor is there any youthfulness beyond one or two people.
>>
I'm a former Seattlefag, moved to CA for work, just be careful with going to a church. My old church was nice, but it was one of those places that you had to grow up in.

Most places post their sermons online, so listen to a few and see what they're about. I remember looking for a new church a few years ago and there were a lot of the new age pozzed christian churches.
>>
>>136173669
Why eastern orthodox?
>>
>>136174609
take it from a 33 year old. go now. start early. i have explored so much in life. and i know this sounds gay as hell, but religion is truly the only way to find peace, to find happiness. if you devote yourself you will succeed in all your endeavors. you will find a good wife. you will raise good children.
if you show up as a 20-something, they will be overly welcoming and happy to see you. youll feel amazing. try and find a church that is more 'traditional' if you can.

All churches are shit
>>
>>136174609
>>136174882
You usually have to either compromise and join a younger church (mostly they're either mostly single or mostly young family ones) but with shit theology, or go a and older church that has a terrible community but usually a pastor fighting the good fight.
>>
>>136171556
Btw, op, traps are just cross dressers. People that masticate to traps are gay.
>>
>>136174609
It heavily depends on what church you go to. You have everything from ritualistic like the Catholics and Orthodox to wild insane Christian rock and babbling of Pentecostals to the more calm and reverent Baptists and Presbyterians to the many in betweens. Some churches will look like nursing homes while others will be full of lively young adults and teens. It purely depends on your area, the church and how they handle things, and the particular faith and denomination.
>>
jew masons are behind all religions.
>>
>>136171556
non-LDS = filter out
>>
>>136171556
Are you new to the Eastside, OP?
>>
>>136175302
If you go Utah church Mormon you don't even really get to pick which ward you go to. You're assigned where you go based on where you live. The Community of Christ doesn't require this and neither do most LDS/RLDS splinters.
>>
>>136174609
If you're out west you can likely find an LDS YSA ward that is literally ONLY single 18-31 year olds.
>>
>>136175497
>>136171556
Always wanted to live in that area -- where do live to afford it? Bellvue itself sounds ultra expensive.
>>
You may want to check out some of the former Mars Hill churches. They disbanded/decentralized a few years back because the pastor said mean things. There was probably more to it but I don't remember. I went to some of their services before, and it wasn't that bad. They didn't bring politics into it or tell people that they didn't have to change.

That actually sounds pretty nice. I guess idk what I'm looking for and will just have to try a couple out.

>>136175497

>>
>>136175567
LDS is Mormonism right? Sorry i dont know much about this either
>>
>>136175824
You should go to the church that's back wherever the fuck you came from, faggot amazombie.
>>
>>136175865
Yes
You can search for age 18-31 wards in your area:
https://www.lds.org/maps/meetinghouses/
>>
>>136175824
My main tips would be don't get discouraged if you have to try a few different churches before making a decision, attend Sunday School or whatever Bible study they have, and try to talk to the pastor/priest/minister and a few of the people in the congregation. This will usually give you a feel for what kind of community they have and if you'd fit in well or not. Definitely don't join a church just because of /pol/ memes or something then end up miserable.
>>
>>136171556
Why do you want to go to a church in the first place?

Sounds like your churches need someone like Steven Anderson.
>>
>>136176292
If anyone wants to visit Mormons or Jehovah Witness I definitely recommend deciding what boundaries you want to have because they love sending missionaries after you and bugging you if you aren't careful. They can definitely get intrusive if you let them be.
>>
>>136176564
I like Christian values and I feel like it could give me a good sense of the community.

>I'm looking for a club

Cancer. This is the state of modern (((Christianity)))
>>
>>136177378
What's your problem bro? My parents are atheists so I don't have experience with this kind of thing.
>>
>>136171556

It's easy. Anything that's not Catholic or Orthodox is shit.
>>
>>136176856
I just don't see the point. You don't need to go to church to embrace Christ or Christian values.
>>
>>136177494

ignore him. habit can create faith, so it's okay if you fake at first. just don't fake baptism
>>
>>136177494
Fellowship is an important function of a church. Would you rather no one show up at all? I'd rather see someone show up for the fellowship first and find God being with Christian men than I would them not go at all and continue to be lost.
>>
>>136171556
They're all shitty.

I'm looking for a church up in the Seattle area too. I've never been a church goer, so as a first timer i'ts pretty daunting to me.
>>
>>136171556
The best way is to read your bible. all the way through. then go to a church and listen to the pastor. if they push things that arent in the bible then you need to find another one. Young pastors are usually the worst for traditional values. youth pastors can sometimes be cancer as well.
>>
>>136177984
there is a lot of stuff churches do that turn you off and are definitely not part of the bible. examples. youth pastors knocking people out with their hands on their foreheads. Forced hugging. strange rambling interpretations of the bible that dont seem to make any sense to you. Sometimes pastors have a hard time filling the time and resort to rambling. If you dont understand the interpretation its probably because it isn't precise.

The traffic on 405 is my problem, you piece of shit. Go back where you came from!
