The Danes over the water there grow vast quantities of dent corn which is generally indigestible by humans and feed it to their massive pig farms - so producing lots of lovely bacon. but it's not like american bacon.

Isn't corn 'nature's pesticide' and kills off other plant life?

Isn't it the source of high fructose corn syrup, which is being used to poison the world?

Isn't it not very nutritional, and eating it serves no purpose except to chew on something?

Isn't popcorn way better?

Corn as a crop, has recently exploded all over europe. But mostly, it is only used as animal feed, and the corn for human consumption, is another sort / seed alltogether.
But really, living in the dairy craddle of south germany, we didn't have many corn fields ~10 to 30 years ago. Nowadays, every third summer field is one. (Can't grow corn anytime else, go figure.)
