Our society is founded on the disposability of men. A women that dies is a loss for our species since we lost an opportunity for reproduction, the same cannot be said for men. It's why men went off to war while women stayed at home. However in our current society we've reached a point where neither gender is valuable or disposable and I'm not sure if that's better or worse.
