Turns out Russia had tons of spies in the US and UK governments. They stole technology and rather than get half wiped out by Germany they took the things the US gave them (Christie suspensions, Studebaker trucks, Jet fuel), and made their own, making them independent and no longer reliant on the suckling tit of the USA after 1942.

Didnt help that the Germans waged a war of annihilation rather than come in as liberators. The country literally would have fallen like a rotten shack if the latter approach was chosen.
