Does /pol/ have any solutions for America's drug problems other than "let the degenerates die!"?
I bet drugs cost us a lot of money in terms of hospitalizations and medical care, EMS response, and work productivity hours lost.
I remember reading that in Pennsylvania I think, a local prison estimates 80-90% of inmates were there for drugs.

Really activated my almonds
Make pot legal. Stop throwing drug users in jail. Start funding rehabilitation and mental health clinics. Educate high school students on the actual consequences of drugs (drop the whole gateway bullshit). Work with doctors to fix the overprescription of opioids.

i think you and the statistics as well confuse heroine junkies with grandmas that have chronic back pain and cancer patients that suffer severe pain.
junkies die from opioids because they overdose opioids that are meant to be used during anesthesia (fentanyl) and nowhere else.
old grandmas die from old age mostly and the medical prolonged release opioids have very little impact on the cause of death.
my grandma takes hydromorphone in a prolonged release formula every day and the only side effect she experiences is constipation. i had to take tramadol for 2 weeks after a surgery and the only side effect i experienced was being a little tired.
so please think for a moment before instantly condemning opioids.
