Shit... my grandad lost two fingers on his left hand(one to frostbite the other to ricochet bullet), suffered a perforated ear drum in early 1943 when a tank shell exploded on the building he was in, three broken ribs, 1 mangled toe in his long march west in 1945,knee ligament damage, 3 gunshots(2 in 1939 and 1941 respectively in his left leg and right shoulder and the last in August 1944 on his upper chest but it never fully penetrated and got stuck in a rib thanks to equipment and made a quick albeit painful recovery) and a bayonet slash from a Russian in the 2nd battle of Kharkov. The Russian didn't survive as you would expect.

That's really lucky compared to what most soldiers and officers received. He was a tough man.

Sorry to hear about the teeth. I've heard stories about why the Russians did that aswell...makes me shudder thinking about the fate of the hundreds of thousands of German soldiers and officers that never came back from the Soviet Gulags and the million+ that never came back from the western allied camps as "Other Losses".

All records were destroyed in September 1945 so we'll never know the truth about the Eisenhower Death Camps of German PoW's.

I remember learning similar lies about Hitler, also a lot about what we did to the japs after pearl Harbor
