Cosmopolitan, when used as an insult, cuts deep because it's true but seldom used. Deep down, they have to know that what they advocate is nothing less than a disease. But they believe it's something greater and better, even though there's literally nothing supporting their faith.

Here's an exercise. Go look up what images come up if you look for "cosmopolitan lifestyle". These are an endless stream of advertisements for elite, rich lifestyles, all tagged as "cosmopolitan" by their respective advertisers and marketers.
This is what's being pushed.
You can have all these wonderful cosmopolitan things like wealth and riches if you just accept all people, diversity is strength, you're too enlightened for petty things like noticing that all your criminal neighbours and brown, and all your brown neighbours are criminals.
