Is Geolibertarianism the PERFECT system?

Also known as Georgism, Geoanarchism, and Geosim this idea started when Henry George published his book Progress and Poverty in 1879.

The idea is to marry a free market with a collectivist environment. While people should own the value they produce themselves, economic value derived from land (including natural resources and natural opportunities) should belong equally to all members of society

If I pump up enough ground water it will avoid downstream wells. I could literally leave your well dry without ever stepping foot on, above, or below your property.

Air is just one type of natural resource. What about oil? Fresh water? Land? Sunlight? Can I build a huge spaceship and block the Sun's rays from hitting your property? An AnCap would say yes, I would say No.
>>135990500
Poisoning my well would be pollution which is aggression which is a violation of the NAP.

1879? We have already solved these issues long before the revolution. They are already law, long before "1879". http://lonang.com/library/reference/locke-two-treatises-government/loc-205/

It seems very arbitary from the practical standpoint.

It is one thing to nationalize oil (which is often still fraught with inefficiency and corruption), it is another to nationalize every low value plot of agricultural land and the complex mosaic of properties in urban areas.

You would need a bloated complex system to regulate and manage the land and "rent" it out, for example to prevent a small farmer being outbid by a big business and having to pack up and leave only for rents to drop next year due to a lack of other bidders.
>>
>>135990826
>Poisoning my well would be pollution which is aggression which is a violation of the NAP.
hahahahah no, I would poison a small fraction of my water and your tank would get poisoned by proxy since I am the one you are stealing from

If you own the land that it's on then it's yours (unless you sell it in a contract).

>Sunlight?
You are free to harvest as much solar power as you want.

>Can I build a huge spaceship and block the Sun's rays from hitting your property?
Refer back to >>135990297. Life is not a Spongebob cartoon. You theoretically can, but you literally can't.
>>
>>135990939
Actually, I wouldn't be allowed to pump any water that's already on your property. I thought I made that clear. But the water that ends up in your well comes from somewhere, right? If my well is between your well and the source then I can intercept that flow and keep it from reaching your well. Even in an AnCap society, I wouldn't be allowed to steal water that's already within your borders. Sorry if I didn't articulate that.
>>
>>135991078
and I would still be able to poison your tank by diffusion

Locke says that all men have a right to have access to meat and drink and I disagree. Your mouth is not mine to feed.
>>135990916
You're right that we need a system free from corruption and bloat. It's why public auctions would work great. And the leases last 99 years or even 999 years. Honk Kong and Singapore do this just fine.
>>135991003
Ok, So your system doesn't account blocked views etc I could built huge walls around your property and wall you in.
>>135991185
Again, putting poison into the environment is pollution. In an AnCap society you would be allowed to put poison on your property but I wouldn't be pumping in YOUR water. My source would be from up higher. If you poisoned that then you're violating the NAP of whoever owns that land.
Is this beyond you? Honest question.
>>
>>135991261
I'm not an ancap I was just laying out how the scenario would play out in that context.
>>
>>135986273

If you bought all the property around mine, then yes.
>>
>>135991532
You can own rights. So if you bought at auction the right to a plot of land then it would be legally yours for the duration of the contract. You'd be allowed to shoot any trespassers etc.. if that's the right you bought.
>>
>>135991532
And this is just for natural resources like land, water, oil, space, air, etc... Stuff made by humans would not be taxed or controlled.
>>
>>135991577
And if my pump WAS stealing water that was ALREADY on your property then YES I would be stealing and violating your NAP. Why is this so fucking difficult for you to grasp?
There is a difference from taking stuff that's on/in your property vs intercepting stuff that would have arrived at your property!

>>
>>135991424
>I could built huge walls around your property and wall you in.
I can tell who's never purchased property before. The only way this happens is if someone buys a piece of land that is surrounded on all sides by other land, or if they sell pieces of their land off and leave themselves surrounded.
In either case, they're retarded and probably couldn't afford the land in the first place.
>>
>>135991758
Do you know how ground water even works?
Please have a basic understanding of physics before you even attempt to hold a political belief.
>>
>>135991859
You're right they'd be retarded to even get into that kind of situation to begin with. But remember, roads are private property under ancapism. I could buy the roads, and buy the surrounding properties. All I'd have to do is put up no trespassing signs and walls and then close down the road.
>>135991851
yes, it wouldn't cost that much to intercept natural resources that would have gone to you if I didn't take them first.
>>135991875
If you're downhill from me, I'd just have to avoid pumping water uphill by limiting my well depth or whatever. But since water first passes through my property and then passes through yours I can abuse my higher elevation and harvest all the water before it gets the chance to pass through your property. All you'd be doing is poisoning your own water that I was never going to touch in the first place.
Brah are you retarded or something?

You're right to ask if my marble countertop is really mine. The process would start when the mining company buys the rights to harvest/use marble from a public auction. Once they harvest the marble it will be theirs to sell and profit from since they already have the rights to it.
Again, we just want people to pay for the natural resources they harvest. If the mining company wants to pass that cost down to the consumer then so be it and they can profit off the marble as much as they want.
>>

You're right that we already have Land Taxes and even in Alaska each resident gets a piece of the pie that the oil companies profit from.
Under georgism though, we'd eliminate sales tax, income tax, capital gains tax, even house tax. Current tax system incentivizes home owners to let their houses go to shit to pay less tax.
