Except that a cartoon doesn't equate to reality, although I get what you are saying. I cannot speak on behalf of all Christians as there are too many sects with differing views and adherents with a multitude of varying political ideals, but in regards to my personal opinion, some religions are less "flimsy" than others. To elaborate, a handful of religions have historical data to back up (at minimum) events and persons that occured/existed at the time, which they then proceed to use said thing as a foundation for their arguments. Which that point alone already separates most mythologies from currently existing religions (excluding religions that believe in polytheism derrived from applied metaphysical views as they differ in what a God are gods are).
