It seems obvious to me that if something like car insurance is made mandatory by a government, then the industry that provides it shouldn't be allowed to accrue obscene private profit from it. Especially when the major players in the industry collude to price-fix (which is essentially profit-fixing and therefore extortion). All they really insure is their own profit. It's essentially a tax on driving, but the tax goes to the already wealthy, it doesn't get redistributed for the common good.

Because if you don't have insurance, you indirectly raise prices for everyone else who does. The wider the pool of insured people is, the lower premiums and costs are overall. So you're not just living in an isolated bubble like you'd like to imagine, even if you're attempting to disengage from the healthcare system you're still affecting it indirectly.

Also tbqh I didn't even read your post all the way through and realized it's about car insurance. That makes it an even dumber question though, the point of car insurance isn't to pay for yourself, it's to pay damages out to the people whose cars you wreck. If you don't have insurance you won't be able to pay in many cases thus leaving the victims fucked over. This is why it's legally mandated.
