In the US and Australia, the media is liberal but the people are still largely conservative with the exception of the single largest cities (NYC, Sydney, and Melbourne to name a few).

New Zealand on the other hand is liberal from Northland to Southland - there's just no escaping it. Any attempt to bring in common sense conservatism is fought back, and even when a somewhat decent solution is proposed, Kiwi's still back down because they are scared of betraying the "progressive" cause. The amount times I've heard "I'd vote for Winston if he wasn't racist or homophobic" this election cycle just makes me want to immigrate as far away from here as possible.

She did, but that's because of the system the Americans use for their elections. There, the electoral vote is more important than the popular vote. The reason that she got the popular vote is that, obviously, the populations of New York state and California are way larger than Wyoming and Montana. The founding fathers of the United States wanted to avoid majority rule with their electoral system, due to the fact that it could be engineered by foreign powers/enemies of the US to influence elections, so they rightly made up one where someone from rural Kentucky is just as important as the bureaucrats from Washington. It's not entirely perfect of course, but it did allow Trump to win the election, so it served its purpose well enough.
