Nothing bad could ever come from dismantling the jewish golem the US is, even if it's one state at a time. California's exit would open the door for actual freedom loving states to leave, and this is a great thing.

There's also the thing that California is bankrupt as fuck due to its leftist policies, so independence would give them a well needed taste of reality.

And of course the freedom thing. They would have more freedom, and freedom means full responsibility of whatever the consequences.
