I volunteer at my local hospital to work with people with neurological issues. The bad ones are pretty much husks of people and its hard to watch people progress into paralysis. But its rewarding since they really appreciate me being there and especially since I can relate to their problems ( I had bells palsy a few years ago)

Every week for years (6 now) I give up a 6 hour block of my time toward inner-city youth.

They get brought in, and we feed them, play games, and do classes and mentoring.

I volunteer in a church youth group and help harvest fruit & veg for canning and donation. I prefer not to support groups monetarily but I do give to the legion and red cross once a year.

As for white families? I don't know of any specific groups but rural areas are generally more white, my town of 65k is 95% white and most of the 5% are casino Indians that stay out of town.
