Ironically the economy is doing well because for one, he isn't getting anything done. And secondly, if he does get shit done, there is a zero chance that it will be about pushing regulations and higher taxes on businesses because that's the opposite of his background and the wishes of his base.

So when nothing gets done, you get a stale set of policies, which leads to economical stability, you just know nothing will change on your taxes and regulations any time soon, and if it does it'll likely be for the better, so you can hire more people and you can invest more money safely. The economy would literally prefer for that seat to be empty and for the government to just freeze to death over anything else.
Trump has kept Hillary Clinton or even worse (Sanders) from office and as far as the economy is concerned that is all that matters.
