Gender isn't the biological classification sex is. I'm not denying that chromosomes distinguish the biological sexes I'm just saying that in the social and philosophical sense (i.e. the one matters outside of a hospital) we know how to treat people on the basis of their gender by how they look and how they act. For this reason it can't really be denied that in this sense, convincing transgenders are effectively women. If I couldn't pick them out in a line up as being men or, if they were a stranger, would treat them as a man without giving it a second thought it makes sense they be socially classified as women.
