She is is a New Zealand politician who has been the Leader of the Labour Party and Leader of the Opposition since 1 August 2017. She was first elected to parliament as a list MP at the 2008 general election. She has been the MP for Mount Albert since 8 March 2017.

Andrew Little resigned as party leader and as Leader of the Opposition on August 1 after receiving unfavorable results in opinion polls for the upcoming September election.
>what does she stand for?
Ardern is an ardent agnostic, after having left the Mormon church in 2005. She is a strong supporter of LGBT rights and believes in social democracy--she seeks redistribution of wealth and an increasingly socialized economy, while working within the framework of capitalism.
