aside from that people should have every right to choose how to die

if it's people choosing to euthanize someone else however then i see some issues there unless the person is extremely damaged and life will only be suffering

well i think what's done with people who have down syndrome should be entirely up to their parents, and personally i think that due to their high empathy levels it's cruel to even give birth to them and abortion is favourable in those cases

i could look the other way in some situations whether they sit well with me or not, and while i don't think that it's right (because they should have been aborted) if there's no one to care for them and no means for them to receive care then what's more cruel? leaving them to fend for themselves, putting them in a system where they'll be abused most likely, or death which is inevitable anyway?

my grandfather was self sufficient, and an amazing person until he hit 85 and had a couple of strokes

they left him screaming all day, he couldn't walk, he couldn't articulate and say the things he wanted, he became a shell that was a burden (which he never would've wanted) to everyone around him and he suffered as much as everyone who had to take care of him

but it was illegal to euthanize him even though that would've been the better option and allowed him some level of dignity after all of that

it doesn't protect people to allow some levels of suffering, it's the exact opposite and it can even be sick and twisted to take care of them and "protect" them
