For those who don't know, the American Jewish museum is just around the corner from this new museum, and right across the street from independence hall -- because Jewish people built America.

Your choice of words makes it much more dramatic than it actually is. It doesn't even describe any 'poor' Jews and 'opression', but a piece of legislation and effort for the cause.
