I'll tell you my story, I lived the fedora life, from about ~2004 until last fall, I lived life as an atheist. Ya know, honestly, I never felt that bitter or anything although I was a fairly militaristic atheist, but once I started lurking in /CG/ threads here on /pol/, I started to look at things a little differently! I took an interest in Orthodoxy, and bought a study bible, and started reading through it!

I knew that (((they))) hated the Christians, and even I felt alienated by my then-fellow believers, I I started to sympathize with the Christians around me, and they were good to me. They welcomed me in, they had biblical answers for the questions I had, they taught me about the world and the way that it, and society works..

I accepted Jesus into my life, started to pray daily, and felt happier, and calmer than I ever had before... I ended a ~7 year rift in my family, I gained a wonderful new church family and a number of new friends, and life is good.

I will pray for you guys - and all those lurking in this thread with interest - that you will find the love of God and the wonderful things that come with it!

It isn't just compatible, it's more or less what's asked of you. Almost all Jews today are rabbinic Jews, which descended from the pharisaic Talmud. You don't need to look dar into the NT to see how Christ felt about the Pharisees.

True to Judaism today, they put the word of the law before the spirit of the law, and in doing so, pretty much stopped worshipping God and started worshipping the law. They were squeaky clean by the book, but would sooner leave their neighbor to die in the street than risk becoming "unclean".

And despite all that, we're still called to evangelize them (if we can, there are examples of the apostles walking out from places that would not hear them) and to pray for them that God may turn them away from their sinful path and return them to Him.

This is the NIV, for us. It is written in modern english, and very easy to understand. The KJV, for all its glory, is much like reading shakespere. It was written/translated in the 1500-1600's, IIRC, so its a little harder to grasp.

For this reason, I point folks to the NIV. Or to an audiobook, sometimes for work I have to drive ~3 hours round trip to the jobsite, so I listen to "NIV Live; A Bible Experience" I think its called, I bought it on Amazon. Really enjoying it...

Similar story for me, though I may not have been truly fedora-tier, I was lost and wandering. Tried a few Protestant churches like I had gone to when I was younger and it just didn't do anything for me. Attended my first liturgy at an Orthodox parish and I felt something there. I've come to feel that what I feel there is the presence of the Holy Spirit, and I've been catechized and chrismated just a while ago. I've been dating my GF since 2015, she comes from a secular background from an agnostic home and knew nothing about Christianity. I'm building a quality Christian wife... There are plenty of goodhearted women around, many have been let down by society and sometimes even their own families. Its up to us, to return them to the faith or introduce them to it initially, and make them into what the bible says they should be.

For the first 280 years of Christian history, Christianity was banned by the Roman Empire, and Christians were terribly persecuted. When the Western half of the Roman Empire collapsed in 476, the popes took on the title that had previously belonged to the Roman emperors—Pontifex Maximus. Pope Gregory I, ruling from 590–604, is usually considered the first bishop to truly wield papal authority.
