Hispanic America had a massive extreme thrash/black metal in the mid to late 80s that influenced the European black metal of the early 90s. You could actually read interviews of Norwegian black metalfags praising Brazilian bands like Sarcofago, Vulcano and Sepultura as their main influences.

East Asia, particularly Japan pumped out a shit ton of early power metal and grindcore in the 80s and early 90s that influenced both genres, and they gave us a bunch of early brutal death metal bands too. Not to mention China has a huge modern black metal scene and Japan constantly pumps out a bunch of varied metal genres today.

It was once my favorite genre of metal, specifically black metal. Currently, I find black metal to be a struggle to listen to for more than a few minutes. I likely "aged out" of the music, and find it far too harsh at this point.

I never liked death metal or the more aggressive styles.

There are really only three metal bands I currently listen to with regularity: Blind Guardian, Iron Maiden and Queensryche. I love that melodic soaring vocal style, and I also like that all three bands are progressive, but not too progressive.

I mostly listen to electronic music now - synthwave and ambient.

is there no one on here that realizes there's an underground metal renaissance happening in eastern Europe? really good ultra right wing albums are being released every other month and it's been building momentum for the last 10 years.

last year had the largest right wing metal festival in the world hosted in ukraine that included political talks on how listeners can help unfuck their countries and bring in a new dawn.

you also have some decent stuff popping up all around the world but the only countries i can think of with serious right wing underground metal scenes are places like finland, ukraine, poland, russia etc. also maybe a little bit in western countries like australia, italy, and france.

either way there's no fucking excuse to be listening to shit like pantera or grindcore bands when groups like nokturnal mortum, goatmoon, and peste noire are putting out current day masterpieces.
