I'm planning to buy eight acres, and slowly wean myself off depending on 'the system' by owning goats, chickens, bees, fruit trees, berry bushes, a big veggie garden, a bit of grains, going hunting every now and again, having a solar/wind/hydro + energy storage set-up, owning guns, and digging a well + filter system. That way the kids have space to run around, have good food to eat, clean air to breathe, clean water to drink, and friends through homeschooling and the Catholic parish.
