We're going to have a Space Corps here in the Burger States soon so I wouldn't be surprised if we find aliens sooner than later. I've always wondered though, what if the reason we haven't met any aliens yet is because they're reading our messages but they're just too nervous about sending back the wrong text to actually respond to us desu.

I don't automatically assume that because there is extraterrestrial life, that it is technologically advanced. We would honestly be lucky to find life on another planet in it's infancy in the form of single celled organisms or plants.

If there are more advanced civilisations, they already know that we are here.
If they already know we are here, they can easily develop specialised missiles that can travel and destroy our planet without them even having to physically leave theirs.
Either we should already be dead, the missiles are heading our way, or these civilisations are not hostile. I'm going for the latter.

if they can travel at the speed of light or faster, they have the technology to detect that we are here.
We would already be dead during our 200,000 years of modern human life. These aliens would have sent this super bomb at earth at the speed of light / faster than / 30% slower than or whatever.
The fact is we are still here, so either theirs no advanced civs, they are not hostile, the missile is still coming (unlikely)
