Trusting any news media outlet is foolish since all of them have an agenda. Never take what is given to you at face value, especially not during these times when it just seems people want to tell you what you want to hear rather than the truth.

If you should use media outlets for anything it is to see how many are running the same/similar stories and to see if they cite any sources or where they get their information from. This is the part where you gather information and sources to verify if the story has any truth to it or not based on what is asserted. That doesn't mean going out and doing topical research like "X posted about this on Twitter like they said so its gotta be true", its about verifying if what they are using to back up their story is even remotely credible and if they even got the story correct in the first place.

If you aren't doing this and are not staying informed, you are more like sheep than men.
