I find this plausible with one addendum

If you're genetically strong and not in the club, they'll basically paint you and even threaten people to keep you down. Basically, if they can't have your genes, no one can have your genes and they'll basically deny your greatness, existence and even right to pursue happiness.

This would explain some things for me.
