Nah the show had a few good episodes each season but most of the episodes were LOL RANDUM HUMORRRR forced through the whole thing. Contrast that with the few really good episodes and you can objectively see the problem with the show. Adding a bigger plot only compounded the forced random humor through the entire second season. If someone likes family guy then they don't have anything of value to add to begin with. There's a little lee-way with rick and morty as a few episodes are pretty good. It's pretty good. Rick and Morty is depicts the existentialist and nihilistic worldview pretty well, coupled with the multiverse theory. It doesn't have to go very deep, although it does, but if you want a lecture in Existentialism that gets around Camu, Satre, Nietzsche, and Kierkegaard, then obviously you don't want a TV show, you want to read books.
