Tipping first became a thing around the time of desegregation. I can immediately see how white people would pay extra to get better service in these new diverse restaurants. In these days servers were white, because desegregation was recent. So if you're pro-white, tip your white servers!

It's fucked up that you have to tip or the people working at your restaurant actually get way too low a pay. It seems to be like a really minuscule problem and a drop of water in the bucket when it comes to the USA, though.

when it started i bet it sometimes rivaled the profits of the actual owners of the businesses, and they decided to increase their profit margin in turn by lowering their wages
