The Bible is like the US Constitution, the Magisterium is like the supreme court, and Tradition is like case-law.

To make such a claim is, in effect, to usurp the natural power and authority of God himself that worked through the Apostles.

If you asked enough you became a disciple. Then when the Apostles were long gone, what was the next best thing? Ask a disciple of a disciple. And thus through the ages it went. That is the "Rule of Faith" and the canon of scripture was informed by it. This is the passing on of Tradition.
