socialized medicine won't lower average costs, in fact, Obamacare INCREASED costs and paperwork.

The reason healthcare in the US is so expensive is because 1)the regulatory state has made it way too easy to prosecute people who didn't knowingly do anything wrong, and as a result not only do doctors pay for lawsuit insurance, but are forced to spend time learning an unending amount of regulations, many of which are quite vague; 2) big Pharma lobbies congress and the presidency so hard.

I honestly wouldn't mind a single payer system if we ALSO got the real problems solved, even though solving the problems and having free market healthcare (as Signapore does, which has some of the lowest healthcare costs and longest life expectancies) would be better.
