Is This How Black People Really Live?

Have any of you guys lived in big cities around significant populations of black people? Do they really behave like this? I’ve been watching this series and I used to live close to Baltimore (although I’m white and lived in the nice burbs that were 96% white). Sometimes I would go down into the city to watch the O’s play or go to Lexington market, and I would always see derelict black people begging for money and doing drugs. From what I can tell inner city black people’s lives are:

>gritty
>dangerous
>no real friends or family relationships
>either don’t go to school or don’t take it seriously
>everyone is considered a rival
>constantly avoiding the police
>scraping by day to day, never have money
>occasional violence
>always living in fear but trying to act “hard” so as not to be victimized
>hating and envying whitey at the same time


Can anyone confirm or deny this? Alternatively tell stories about your interactions with black people.
