Actually, it's because the indigenous populations became reliant on whites to do everything for them that's important. They leeched off the wealth brought by whites, neglected to get jobs or skills because lol white do everything, and then kicked the whites out believing they were gonna magically gain all the knowledge bestowed to them by white Europeans.
