It the US, a big deal for meth heads is to swipe stow-n-go seats out of minivans because they detach and can be removed in seconds unnoticed (even while the owner is pumping gas or loading groceries) and sell for thousands. Another thing is to make sure you lock your tailgate at all times. Regular factory ones are ~$1k. The ones with the built in electric step are thousands of dollars, and pop off in seconds.

If you see someone walking and trying to drop tailgates on random parked trucks, that's why. They are scouting them out to hit them at night.
