A federal sales tax is actually the solution to many things.

eliminate the income tax, and institute a 2%, that's right, 2%, federal consumption tax. Healthy foods, medicines, and select other essentials are exempt. The tax would be progressive in nature with higher brackets. >$1500 rolex? 3%
