It's been ramping up over the past few years.
The problem, of course, is that they're alienating their core audience in doing so. They thought they'd win SJW sales and convert their core audience by pivoting their content towards tumblr politics. Unfortunately, they failed to realize that SJW types aren't actually interested in comics and games, and that they simply wanted something to complain about. They saw a market dominated primarily by white males, and they attacked.
Naturally, no matter how hard they try to pander to these "people," whatever they do will never be good enough, and giving them an inch only encourages them to demand a mile. Unfortunately for them, the SJW crowd didn't buy comics and games before, and they still don't, even after the big name companies started shilling their politics.
Instead, all they've accomplished is shooting themselves in the foot. Sales on big name games and comics have been dropping like a rock ever since they started shoehorning in tranny characters, revising history to include racial diversity where none existed, and including characters whose entire personality is "I am a girl but I like vaginas, TAKE THAT DAD."
There was even an article where the CEO of some comic company complained that no one was buying "Super Trans* Man" or whatever drivel they had released, and blamed it on white men being bigoted instead of taking ownership of their own shitty decision-making and poor market research.

As much as I hate that it happened, it's at least a self correcting issue. At heart they're all businesses and they will either see that they're hemorrhaging money and either go under or change their ways.
