I want to make a game for pol that's very very subtle but based on reality. The programming, design patterns and dev I all have down, but the actual game design eludes me. Making something subtle is the hard part. My current thoughts are about making a game where a player run a shop and facing certain changes in local ethnicity and playing out on some economic memes we see promoted constantly with their real repercussions. Let the player get invested in a cutesy world for the first third and then start making those changes once they've got a stake in events (Probably the second and third acts)
That way they can see their store starting to falter to burglaries, their taxes being spent on things that will destroy them, learning to sell things that aren't cutesy/wholesome for things that make high profit despite the social impact it eventually causes(Like going from a pottery store to a liquor/weed shop).
If anyone has any input/ideas, I'm all ears a this stage while I hunt down assets and sketch up some basic layouts.
I'm lurking in the pol discord gaming channel if anyone wants a more direct conversation.
