BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:50 A.M.) – British journalist John Cantlie has been reported dead this morning in the recently liberated city of Mosul by a local Iraqi media outlet.

Al-Sura News Agency alleged on Friday that their ground team interviewed three captured Islamic State (ISIL) terrorists in Mosul that all confirmed the death of John Cantlie.

Cantlie was kidnapped in Syria in 2012 while reporting on the war from the northern part of the country.

The British journalist was later used by the Islamic State to report in their propaganda videos in the Mosul area of northwest Iraq.

While no confirmation has been made by the U.S. Coalition or Iraqi Armed Forces, Cantlie has not been heard of since December 2016, when ISIL released their last propaganda video with him in it.

my family comes from staunch socialists.

I mean it's easier to learn other slavic languages after learning one because you have familirised with grammar and especially cases.

Though Russian is much diferent than Serbian because whole Russian language revolves around palatalisation and softening of consonants. That is not the case in Serbo-Croatian which is fully phonetic so writing "O" in a word even unstressed will never make shot "A" sound like in russian, and western Slavic languages which use Latin letters and don't soften as much.

Though learning Cyrillic will make it easier to learn languages which use Cyrillic.

Don't let this post discourage you at all, I am just saying diferences and not similarities like there are a lot of words in Serbian and Russian that are almost literally same and have same meaning and grammar is almost the same but with different endings or sufixses.

Exsample: Cлyшaти - Serbian
Cлyшaть - Russian ' both meaning to listen

So first first person comes like:
Ja cлyшaм - Serbian
Я cлyшaю - Russian - bot meaning I am listening.

Though as you can see we Serbs have "J" letter that is used and is same as Russian "Й" letter.
But we don't conjoin "Я" Into single letter but instead write "Ja", same for Rus: "e" = Serb: "Je" , and Rus: "э" = Serb: "e".

Now I knew a little bit about Russian since I am learning it myself, but that general difference between Serbian and Russian excluding diferent vocabulary and those things. Other Slavic languages have different rules which I can't say i am too familiar.

Currently the role of the establishment(Army+ISI) has been greatly decreased in politics . This was done by the previous army chief General Raheel Sharif to stop the politicizing of the army and thus fracturing it.
